This is a series of animations taken from a project at Coventry University aimed at helping people to find out what it is like to have dyslexia.

The animations were created by illustration students working with health professionals as part of the university’s new Health Design Technology Institute.

Many learners with dyslexia have problems with auditory processing; and these tend to be the more intractable difficulties. This clip focuses only on the visual aspects of dyslexia. I have written before about the importance of regular eye checks. (If reading difficultes can be ‘cured’ by glasses or coloured overlays, then the problem was not solely dyslexia in the first place). Even so, according to those people I’ve spoken to who experience visual stress, this clip gives a good indication of some of the visual stresses some people suffer.
