Here are some Memory Games, part of the newly updated Brainsmart website, sponsored by LT Scotland:

I know I’m getting on a bit and I must expect deterioration in my memory but … I found these hard!

I’m not sure I would use them with the primary pupils with whom I work. The tasks are demanding – even the ‘Easy’ level – and solutions are in words rather than pictures. Some of my errors were because I had spelled something incorrectly (e.g. Lilian for Lillian) others because I had not typed in exactly what the oblect was named (e.g. eggs for fried eggs).

Shame because developing memory is such a crucial aspect of our job. Perhaps I will persevere, learn the rules and, once I can concentrate on remembering the stimuli rather than the process, I might improve.
