Well this is from The Mail online (no, I don’t subscribe but picked the link up on Twitter) so we must expect some exaggeration. Oliver is not to start one of Gove’s ‘Free Schools’ but set up a training centre for 16 – 19 year olds to take a 60 hour course ‘covering the basics of preparing a nutritious meal and the second developing a cooking repertoire’. It is to ‘form the basis of a new Channel Four fly-on-the-wall reality show’.

Jamie Oliver  has described his own schooling as ‘a struggle’ because teachers didn’t understand his dyslexia.

Now he is to set up his own school for children who are disaffected with mainstream education.

His ‘school with a difference’ will help youngsters who are dyslexic, have suffered bullying or attended private schools but ‘still haven’t fulfilled their potential’.

They will be offered an education that is ‘more inspiring’.

A range of other life and job skills are expected to be covered at the school.Programme-makers are seeking applicants who may have been dyslexic, have been subjected to bullying or who became teenage mothers. They are also hoping to appeal to private school pupils who didn’t do as well as they’d hoped.

‘Suffers from’, ‘may have been dyslexic’: a clear indication that the journalist knows nothing about the subject!

Still, I guess I will tune in when the show appears if only to have a wee rant at the t.v.!
